YOUR PLACE

What you love made by your child in your home.

Cooking and eating, they are daily rituals that you may need a break from every once in a while. Not to mention, your little one may want to help but you don't have the time or patience to get them involved. That's where I come in. With a BA in Psychology and several years working with children, this is a passion project. I've taught after school care, all elementary ages. I have worked at The Department of Children and Families. I have taught pre-school for 2 years, with fifteen 3-5 year olds. I was given the worst class of 1st graders in an after school care program and did wonderfully. I also worked with high-school at risk youth mentoring them through music in an after school care program. I've also given pre-teens guitar lessons.

My best friend suggested that I do this for her child and insisted I share my passion with other families too. So, I listened. Her logic was this: I love children and I love cooking and it happens that children not only love cooking with me too, they have a tendency to try new things with me (don't get jealous mom if I make a break through with something your child has not yet tasted or previously disliked). So here I am.

Just last week I had a breakthrough with a 15 year old girl who tried her first omelette. She is my cousin and my aunt and uncle were shocked. They had tried to get her to taste an omelette for several years and she didn't. That is just one example. What's more she liked it so much she asked for seconds. This time I only had egg whites left. I mixed in some tumeric to the egg whites so they would look yellow and was a tad apprehensive of the difference in the flavor. However, she loved it too! So, from spices to veggies and everything in between, I will do my best to transform the way your child experiences food by teaching them the importance of it and where it comes from. Most importantly by making it fun. I've worked with children from 3 and up (including grown ups) and work with the elderly as well.

Basically you can hire me to come in for stimulating time in the kitchen, and I'll take on the challenge of your favorite foods and all dietary restrictions.

I'm a fan of fresh food and homemade cooking, however I will work within your parameters. And oh yes, the atmosphere will be joyful! That is a guarantee. We'll be cooking to the joyful swing era tunes.

If you've considered having an herb garden or already do, this will be a great time to put it to use. I'll gladly help start one with your child and see if we can get your child to help you with your herb garden.

Your Kitchen is Full of Delightful Discoveries

Get the goodness into your li'l cook.

Cooking and eating are more than putting food in your body. Food is a form of connecting with the world around us: the farmers, the soil, the Earth, the animals, the water, the fire, the air and our family. â€‹It is something to be done with love and lovingly and that is what I'll do. Teach the respect that is merited by the ingredients and the skills needed to turn them into meals, while having as much fun as possible.

Whether you are looking to free your time so you can have another important meeting, exercise or work, or would simply like your child to be engaged, get in touch with me to see if we can get your li'l one cooking.

Ideally you will email me and I will reply with a questionnaire about you and your li'l ones favorite foods, any eating issues you may be having and what you hope your child learns most out of our time. And of course, I'll craft our time together for your individual needs.

Thanks for visiting my li'l cook!

Sending lots of love to your kitchen!
